Three of the best Latin bands from the New York area will be offering a very special tribute to Vicki Sola, the voice of 89.1 WFDU-FM Radio's "Que Viva La Música."   We are delighted to dedicate this tribute to Ms. Sola for her tireless dedication as a radio host and for her support of Latin Music.  Please join us on Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 (doors 5pm - music 6:30pm) for what is sure to be a memorable evening filled with music, dancing and celebration.

Since 1983, Vicki Sola has provided the New York-metro Latino community with quality Salsa and Latin Jazz produced by a singular mix of famous performers, plus artists rarely heard on more commercial radio stations.  On her Saturday afternoon program, Que Viva La Música, she also presents live interviews with musicians, writers and other individuals active in the arts.  Ms. Sola, born of a Puerto Rican father and Russian Jewish-Norwegian mother, considers it her mission to preserve and perpetuate authentic Latin music, paying respect to the architects of the music as well as giving today's veteran artists and newcomers an all too rare opportunity to expose their productions to the public.  Que Viva La Música, mentioned in composer Jimmy Webb's book "Tunesmith" (Hyperion), can be heard Saturday afternoons in the New York-metro area from 12 noon to 4pm on listener-supported non-commercial radio 89.1 WFDU-FM and audio-streamed worldwide on the internet at www.wfdu.fm.
