OPENING NIGHT Saturday, January 28 commemorating the birth of Cuban poet, writer, intellectual and martyr José Martí with poetry reading, art exhibit by local Cuban artist, CUBANISIMO VINEYARD WINES, COCONUT "MOJITOS", PORTO'S BAKERY appetizers, SALSA CLASS and MUSIC. There is limited seating so tickets at door might not be available.
The SHOW RETURNS TO LA! It was SOLD OUT during Hollywood Fringe Festival 2011 and won Best of Hollywood Fringe Award.
At times, brutal, at times full of laughter and love, Be Careful! The Sharks Will Eat You! also played to sold out audiences in New York City and Miami Florida.
Written and performed by Jay Alvarez and directed by Theresa Gambacorta, Sharks takes you to the sultry beats of The Tropicana in the 1950s, the danger of Fulgencio Batistas fall and Fidel Castros rise to power, a political revolution and an imagined CIA attempt to separate children from parents, the longing for a better life that propels one to throw themselves, under the cover of a moonless night into the unknown- events that shaped the Alvarez family's escape from Cuba in 1964. 6569 Santa Monica Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90038 Tel: 323.871.1912
