Martí, A Life in Exile, by Avenol A. Franco, a native New Yorker, will be shown at 7pm. It is a biographical documentary short film, 12 minutes long, that highlights moments and aspects in the extraordinary life of the humanitarian, romantic, philosophical writer and Cuban Revolutionary poet, José Martí. Martí was the innovative head of the Cuban revolutionary revolt against Spain in the last quarter of the 19th century. The documentary depicts the short life of Martí from his birth in Havana, the commencement of his nationalistic fervor in his pre-teen years, his travels throughout Europe and South America and the fifteen years that he lived in New York before his final and fateful return to Cuba.
