Director of Men's Style at Brioni Menswear Gianluigi Di Nino says, "We based our collection firmly on 50s style Cuba because we felt that this could espouse our idea of a light collection made of fine, diaphanous garments mixed with colorful outfits." Cuba is full of Caribbean colors, says Di Nino, and they use this along with lightweight, tropical fabrics. Tropical prints abound as do bold colors on the men's coats, Panama hats, of course, and casual elegance. The man is aware of his elegance, but is modest about it. -- FashionTV
About Brioni
Nazareno Fonticoli (a tailor in the ancient city of Penne in the Abruzzo region of Italy) and the entrepreneur Gaetano Savini founded the Brioni tailor shop in via Barberini in Rome. It was there that the dream of Italian High Fashion for men took shape, a blend of technical and stylistic excellence.
It was in 1952 that Brioni innovated the fashion show concept at Palazzo Pitti in Florence -- already the window of Italian fashion -- and showed men on the catwalk for the very first time. Two years later, in 1954 Brioni conquered the United States and the film industry, becoming the chosen wardrobe for many celebrated Hollywood stars. The year 1957 was a turning point in the history of men's fashion: Brioni added a touch of colour to formalwear and in particular, to a series of dinner jackets: culminating in the Hess collection. In 1958: "Good Luck" was launched. "Good Luck" was an exuberant, refined fragrance, created to celebrate the spirit of the times.
