Leonel “Papo” Ortega formed the New York-based orchestra, Cubanoson, in 2005. Two of their hit songs, “Cubanoson” and “Recordando A Cuba” from their debut CD titled “Recordando A Cuba” received worldwide airplay, and still continues to do so to this day. The band made it to the 2007 Latin Grammy Final Entry List in 12 categories and was featured at the International FIFI Awards, on UNIVISION TV, and numerous other festivals and performances, including a blockbuster show at NJPAC 4 years in a row. Their latest CD release “Rumba Nueva” made it to the 2010 Latin Grammy Final Entry List in 9 categories and is also getting considerable airplay worldwide. To top it all off, their dance music is featured in three languages- English, Spanish, and French.

Performances by Papo Ortega’s CUBANOSON New York’s Cuban Orchestra, Arturo Sandoval and Tito Puente Jr. & His Orchestra, in addition, a parade highlighting the Lehigh Valley's Latino nationalities and special Father's Day programming are among the many highlights of the first iSabor! Latin Festival, set for June 17-19 at the ArtsQuest Center and SteelStacks arts and cultural campus in Bethlehem.
¡Sabor!, the first festival to take place at SteelStacks, will feature three days of music, food and dance celebrating the region's Latino culture. During the event, guests will experience a variety of concerts and events at three different locations at SteelStacks, with free programming at the ArtsQuest Center, PNC Plaza and Air Products Town Square, with CUBANOSON on June 19 topping the festival with a free out-door concert at the Town Square. Two ticketed concerts – Arturo Sandoval on June 17 and Tito Puente Jr. & His Orchestra on June 18 – will also take place at the ArtsQuest Center's Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling.
¡Sabor! gets underway on Friday evening with performances by Andean folk musicians Runa Pacha, reggaeton artist Bolo Flow, Musikfest favorites Luisito Rosario y Su Orchestra and Latin jazz legend Sandoval. On Saturday, the festivities continue with a parade featuring representatives from the various Latino groups of the Lehigh Valley, as well as an automobile show presented by the Puerto Rican Cultural Coalition, a fun storytelling session for kids, and a talent show and salsa/tango dancing and lessons by the Hispanic American League of Artists. At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the Musikfest Café will come alive with the sounds of Tito Puente Jr. & His Orchestra, who will take to the stage for a night of nonstop dancing with a "Mambo Party." The fun and festivities conclude on Father's Day, with special programming that's all about 'Dad.' Look for a dominoes tournament and cigar demonstrations hosted by the Puerto Rican Beneficial Society, a special Father's Day mariachi brunch in the Musikfest Café and more. Musical entertainment for the day includes local favorite Audio Dynamikz presents "Sundaze" Latin Mix, CUBANOSON, the sizzling Cuban dance orchestra from New York, tops the festival performing at the Air Products Town Square at SteelStacks from 4 to 6pm.
Guests who work up an appetite during ¡Sabor! will find plenty of great eats to choose from as the festival showcases the flavors of Latin America with everything from succulent grilled meat on a stick to refreshing shaved ice. The visual and cinematic arts will also be well represented at the festival, with Latino films playing in the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas, images by Latin American photographers looping on monitors throughout the ArtsQuest Center and demonstrations by Latino artists at the SteelStacks Arts & Antiques Market.
